Wörthersee Night Swim

In 1877, the composer Johannes Brahms began his first summer in Pörtschach, a town on the northern shore of the Wörthersee. He found the scenery so deeply moving that he repeatedly extended his stay, eventually composing some of his most significant works while overlooking these very waters. Today, the lake retains that same captivating influence, though its quiet surface is now broken by the rhythm of swimmers during the annual Wörthersee Night Swim.
