Where to stay

Lower Manhattan offers a range of stays, from high-end hotels near the Battery with views of the harbor to compact, efficient boutique hotels nestled in the historic streets of the Financial District. Expect prices to hover between $350 and $600 per night during the peak June season. For those preferring more space, apartment-style rentals in nearby Brooklyn Heights or the West Village provide a quieter retreat, typically ranging from $250 to $450 per night depending on proximity to the subway lines that facilitate access to the harbor.

Things to do nearby

The weekend is defined by the energy of the waterfront. Beyond the race, you can explore the harbor via guided kayak tours that offer a closer look at the local maritime geography, or visit the historic sites surrounding the harbor’s edge. The area is dense with world-class museums and the famous architectural trails of Lower Manhattan. If you prefer a slower pace, the public parks lining the East River are ideal for post-swim recovery, offering paths for light jogging or cycling with direct views of the harbor’s active, tidal-influenced channels.
