Where to stay

Málaga offers a wide spectrum of lodging, from traditional 'casas de pescadores' renovated into modern apartments in the Pedregalejo district to boutique hotels overlooking the port. For those seeking proximity to the race start at La Malagueta, high-end hotels are available along the promenade. Budget-conscious swimmers can find hostels and guesthouses in the historic city center. Expect to pay between 80 EUR and 250 EUR per night depending on the proximity to the waterfront and the level of service.

Things to do nearby

The weekend provides opportunities to explore the city's deep history, including the Roman Theatre and the Alcazaba fortress. Swimmers often head to the local markets to sample 'espetos'—sardines skewered and grilled over open fires on the beach. For active recovery, the nearby coastline is ideal for SUP or kayak excursions, allowing for a different perspective of the cliffs that border the bay. Alternatively, the botanical gardens in the city's northern hills offer a quiet retreat after the race.
