Where to stay

Accommodations around Pöcking and Leoni consist largely of traditional guesthouses and family-run lakeside hotels, with some options for camping near the shoreline. Boutique hotel rooms overlooking the water typically range from €140 to €220 per night during the peak August season. For a more authentic experience, visitors often seek out rooms in former fishermen’s houses converted into private lodgings, which provide direct access to the lakefront walking paths.

Things to do nearby

The Starnberg area is defined by its proximity to the water and royal history. Activities include renting kayaks or SUPs to explore the protected shoreline, or visiting the archaeological museum in Starnberg to view models of the historic royal barges. Hiking the trails up to the Ilkahöhe provides a panoramic view of the basin and the surrounding alpine foothills. Local gastronomy focuses on lake-caught whitefish, with several traditional taverns offering tastings along the harbor in Leoni.
