About the race
The Middle Island Challenge (MIC) is an iconic open water swim race held at Deep Water Bay on the southern side of Hong Kong Island. With its golden sands and crystal-clear waters, Deep Water Bay provides a stunning and welcoming setting for swimmers of all abilities—from beginners to elites.
The event features three distances: a full 3.8 km loop around Middle Island, plus shorter 1.5 km and 400 m races. We prioritize a friendly, inclusive racing atmosphere in one of Hong Kong's most scenic coastal locations, giving participants the unique opportunity to swim around the famous Middle Island! Swimmers who participate in all three races will receive a special souvenir. Triple crown trophy will be award to the swimmer who participates in all three races with the lowest cumulative times across 3 races.

Course
Full 3.8 km loop around Middle Island. 1.0km checkpoint at Middle Island Beach (cutoff 28 mins), 2.5km checkpoint at Inflatable Buoy (cutoff 75 mins).
Awards
Medals/prizes will be given out to the top 3 participants in each AG category. Fastest swimmer who breaks the 3.8km overall course records (Male/Female) will be awarded a cash prize. Finisher medals and e-certificates will be given to racers who complete the race. Gold/Silver Swimmer Awards for 3.8km finishers based on time. Triple Crown Finisher Trophy for those completing all 3 races within cut-off times. Triple Crown Champion Trophy for fastest cumulative time.

Race date: May 24, 2026. Wetsuits prohibited. A safety buoy is mandatory for the entire duration of the race. Registration is divided into Early Bird, Standard, and Late Entry tiers. Awards are provided by category, along with a 'Triple Crown' trophy for those who complete all three distances. An ID document is required for bib collection. A pre-race briefing will be sent via email 4 days before the event.

MTR: South Island Line to Ocean Park Station (Exit C), walk along coastal path. Bus: 6, 6A, 6X, 260 to Deep Water Bay. Minibus: 40, 40X. Limited public parking available.
