Where to stay
Giżycko offers a mix of traditional wooden fishing cabins, modern boutique hotels overlooking the harbor, and seasonal camping grounds directly on the lakefront. For a standard double room in a local guesthouse, expect to pay between €70 and €120 per night during the peak August season. Waterfront hotels with full amenities generally range from €150 to €250 per night.
Things to do nearby
The region is defined by its water-centric culture. Beyond the competition, visitors explore the chain of lakes via kayak or SUP, following routes that link the historical fortresses. Local experiences include guided trekking paths through the surrounding forests and tastings of regional fish dishes prepared in traditional smokehouses. Several archaeological sites, preserving the heritage of the ancient pile-dwelling cultures, are accessible by boat or short hiking trails near the main lake hubs.
