As you navigate the stretch toward the southern shore, your primary orientation point is the neo-gothic St. Nikolaus church in Übersee. Its tower stands over 75 meters tall, a structure so dominant in the local skyline that it is colloquially known as the 'Achental-Cathedral', guiding you toward the finish line. To your left, the swim borders the eastern nature reserve of the Tiroler Achen river mouth, a vast 1,264-hectare habitat where the freshwater inflow creates distinct water densities and temperatures. Further along the course, you pass near the quiet, uninhabited Krautinsel, a reminder of the Middle Ages when the island was cultivated specifically for vegetables and medicinal herbs.

Approaching the final kilometer, you swim toward the harbor area where the Überseer Bach enters the lake.
