The water and landmarks

As you swim toward the harbor, the satirical Imperia statue looms over the horizon, a 1993 monument that serves as a modern guardian near the finish line. Beneath the surface, the lake holds traces of a far older history; the region is famous for its Neolithic and Bronze Age pile-dwelling settlements. On the land nearby, history remains visible at the Münsterplatz, where the remains of the Roman fortress Constantia, built around 300 AD, are preserved under a glass pyramid.
